Rodney & Matthew Sen, brothers & Sydney restaurateurs gave birth to Barzura in 1994.

We are a family business and consider our staff and patrons to be part of our extended family too.

Our team of 30+ employees welcome you to the relaxed beachside environment that is Barzura. Barzura loves Coogee and the community of Coogee, from our locals to our international jetsetters, who make it such an eclectic and vibrant place to be.

Affectionately known as ‘Sydney’s seaside village’, Coogee is a thriving community with a big heart.

You can visit us via public transport (find your bus here), by car (parking information here) or by taking the spectacular Bondi to Coogee Walk.

The Beast Magazine is our local community magazine – find out what fun you can have before or after your meal at Barzura! https://thebeast.com.au/

We’re more than just a restaurant, cafe and bar!

We are one with our local and global environment and community.

Barzura will always try to do our best to demonstrate this through all the choices we make.

We are a responsible cafe and proudly offer a 1 dollar discount every time you BYO a pre cleaned cup (take-away drinks only).

We use only recyclable napkins and decomposable take away containers.

We source our ingredients ethically, namely all our seafood is all Australian & sustainably sourced and all comes with certification from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).

We are also very proud of our dynamic and longstanding CSR programs supporting both our local community through sponsorships, donations and hosting special fundraising events and communities afar via our direct involvement with a 100% Volunteer based Australian NGO called Communities Assist.

Communities Assist in an Australian not-for-profit organisation without political or religious affiliations. Operating on volunteer structure to ensure that all financial assistance is directly channelled into their projects.
Communities Assist, established in 2006, provides housing, food, education, medical assistance and more through a sustainable lifestyle structure to the orphaned Kili kids at Rainbow Ridge, Tanzania.

In 2011, Barzura also initiated a wonderful collaboration with local schools to create a sustainable income source for this NGO through our “Kids feeding Kids” program (see media release here).

We support charities that do great things! Join us in helping them – all donations over $2 are tax deductible in Australia.
